Sonics' Arena Design and WONGDOODY PR Director Get WTF Award
I don't know what's worse, having the Sonics leave Seattle, or having the Sonics stay and going to a game at this newly designed Emerald City Center. This is far beyond worthy of an abbreviation, so WHAT THE FUCK! This has a retractable roof! Are you serious? Basketball is a winter sport. It rains about 1 out of 3 days in Seattle during the winter. Why would we have a retractable roof on a basketball/hockey arena? Literally the stupidest idea I've ever seen.
The idea is being pitched by former Sonics player Fred Brown of the 1979 NBA Championship team, and David Bean, Senior Director of Public Relations at WONGDOODY. Dude, guys, WTF?
My favorite part is the quote in the Seattle P.I. - "...a retractable-roof arena that could house basketball and hockey franchises in the middle of an Epcot-like exposition center." Epcot-like? OOOOOHH, Fun Forest part II!
And, it will only cost $1 billion. Only $1 billion!
